Senior Audio-Visual Programmer (Q-SYS / Crestron)

Location: Chicagoland (Hybrid – onsite commissioning required)
Compensation: ~$90,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview

Pace Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Audio-Visual Programmer with deep expertise in Q-SYS and Crestron platforms to lead programming efforts across complex AV deployments. This role serves as a technical authority on control system development, commissioning, and troubleshooting, and works closely with engineering, project management, and field teams to ensure systems are delivered to design intent, on time, and to client standards.

The ideal candidate is comfortable owning programs end-to-end, mentoring junior staff, and acting as an escalation point during commissioning and post-installation support.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and commissioning of AV control systems using Q-SYS Designer and Crestron (SIMPL / SIMPL# / VTPro or HTML5)
• Own programming standards, reusable modules, and version control best practices
• Serve as technical escalation for complex integration, performance, or interoperability issues
• Commission enterprise-scale AV systems including conference rooms, classrooms, divisible spaces, auditoriums, and command centers
• Integrate control platforms with DSPs, cameras, displays, matrix switchers, microphones, UC platforms (Teams / Zoom), and third-party systems
• Partner with AV engineers to validate designs and ensure programming aligns with scope and client expectations
• Mentor junior programmers and support knowledge transfer across the AV team
• Provide detailed programming documentation, as-built files, and handoff materials
• Support post-deployment optimization and client-facing troubleshooting when required

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional AV programming experience
• Advanced hands-on expertise with Biamp, Q-SYS and Crestron control systems
• Strong command of audio DSP concepts, signal flow, and AV networking fundamentals
• Proven ability to independently commission systems and resolve complex field issues
• Experience integrating UC platforms (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms)
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and client stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Q-SYS Level 2 or Level 3 certification
• Crestron CTI-P or higher
• Experience leading programming on multi-room or standardized enterprise deployments
• Familiarity with networked AV environments (VLANs, IP addressing, QoS)
• Public-sector, healthcare, or higher-education AV experience
