Job Description

WORK SCHEDULE: 3 days per week (flexible)

• 10am to 3pm (5 hours)
• Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and/or Sundays

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 5 years of experience providing high quality care for senior with disabilities
• Has own reliable transportation
• CPR/First Aid Trained
• Chinese or Vietnamese speaking desirable/preferred

JOB DUTIES

Bathing/Grooming

• Bathing and dressing, including wound care
• Cleaning and changing incontinence briefs
• Assist senior with using bathroom (as needed)
• Assist senior with oral care

Medication Management

• Medication reminders and ensure medication is taken and note time
• Stay up to date with any changes in medication as required by doctor

Meal Preparation

• Plan and prepare 1-2 nutritious meals and snack and take note of time
• Ensure senior stays hydrated

Mobility Assistance

• Encourage senior to move and stay physically active to prevent muscle loss (i.e. short walk or light exercise for hands, arms, legs, and feet)
• Follow exercise instructions from physical therapist, if any
• Assist senior with limited mobility and take special care for elderly/frail/fall-risk
• Help reposition and ensure senior is comfortable while sitting or lying down

Medical Appointments

• Provide transportation to medical appointments (as needed)
• Assist during medical appointments via virtual or in-person (as needed)
• During appointment, take detailed notes and route in family member via conference call with doctor

Companionship

• Spend some time getting to know senior and provide companionship/conversation and emotional support
• Eat meal(s) together, if possible
• Provide entertainment and encourage participation (i.e. sing, watch tv, read, play games)

Housekeeping

• Clean up after cooking
• Wash dishes and put away after dry
• Wipe counters and stove
• Vacuum living room, hallway, and bedroom
• Take out garbage (as needed)
• Wash, dry, and fold clothes (as needed)
• Change bedding and wash and dry (as needed)

Recordkeeping

• Note all meal, snack, and medications taken
• Note urine and bowel movements
• Note completion of duties
• Note physical or mental status and any changes or issues with senior
